Family Farmers Seed Cooperative
Welcome to the Family Farmers Seed Cooperative's website!
This group represents some of the best organic seed growers in the United States. They are highly skilled organic farmers who have a passion for seed and are dedicated to improving organic seed systems.
Our primary goals are to raise the quality of organic seed, specifically open-pollinated seed, and to increase its availability to organic farmers throughout the country. By doing so we will contribute a sustained and dedicated effort to increasing seed sovereignty and seed security.
Organic farmers deserve the opportunity to plant seeds that were specifically bred to perform in their localized organic systems. FFSC is working with the non-profit organization, Organic Seed Alliance, to:
- support farmer-breeders in on-farm development of new varieties for organic farming systems
- provide skill-enhancing training opportunities to FFSC members
- implement a stock-seed maintenance and improvement program to keep open-pollinated varieties in tip-top condition
- incorporate rigorous quality control protocols for selection work and seed production
FFSC is dedicated to providing its customers with high quality seeds of open-pollinated varieties well suited to organic farming systems, enhancing the profitability of its customers and its producer members.
