We're excited about the 6th Organic Seed Alliance Seed Growers Conference, coming up on January 19-21, 2012 and wanted encourage you to sign up. This biennial, one of a kind event is a great place to gain skills and knowledge, and connect with others, to help grow and protect our public domain organic seed supply. Now more than ever, its critical for organic seed growers and advocates to come together to learn and strategize around ways to protect and expand organic seed supplies, and rejuvenate and collaborate to tackle the work ahead. Several FFSC members are presenting, and we look forward to meeting you there!

Several FFSC members are presenting and attending, and we'll have a booth in the trade show. We're also helping to coordinate the seed swap, and will bring seed from FFSC growers to share with fellow seed swappers. We look forward to meeting you at the conference!

The main conference takes place January 20-12, 2012 with an optional pre-conference field tour on January 19. It's held in Port Townsend, WA at Fort Worden State Park, a beautiful state park sized over 400 acres. Highlights include keynotes by Dr. Eric Holt-Giménez, executive Director of Food First institute for Food Policy, and Dr. William Tracy, Dean of the college of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

It unites hundreds of farmers, seed production and distribution companies, researchers, plant breeders, pathologists, and university extension professionals for two days of informative presentations and panel discussions (over two dozen to choose from), a tradeshow (stop by to say hello!), a poster session and networking. As always, there will be a seed swap (bring your seed and join us there!), fun and entertainment in the mix, too.

FFSC members and representatives will be presenting in workshops on commercial seed growing, marketing and starting your own farmer-owned seed company, including Ryan Dolan (L&R Farms), Theresa Podoll (Prairie Road Organic Farm) and Steve Peters (seed production staff). FFSC member Maud Powell (Wolf Gulch Farm) is also on the conference committee that helped pull this fabulous event together. You can check out the conference program here and register online. See you at the conference!
